Welcome

Astronomy has been a passion of mine for quite some time. When I was a youngster I spent many hours reading and dreaming over our copy of The Readers Digest "Atlas of the Universe", little did I know that later on in life would I get the opportunity to join up with a great bunch of people at the Sutherland Astronomical Society but I would also own some very nice astronomical equipment and use said "toys" to look at many of the objects I read about when I was a youngster.

I like to keep notes of what I do and so this site is a log/blog of my observational notes and other astronomical goodies. I'm not aiming to venture into astrophotography, I like the idea of photons that have been travelling for possibly millions of years triggering the receptors of my eyes.

I also have written an iDevice app Alt Az Align that helps those with computerised telescopes pick the best alignment stars when aligning their Alt/Az scopes. This way I get to keep my hand in with some programming as well as developing an app that is useful to both myself and others.

Meanwhile, look around and enjoy my site.

Clear skies and bountiful viewing!

Cheers,
Simon
